PREPARING YOUR HOME FOR REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY

A fast guide to prepping your home for real estate photos. Before I come,

please follow these tips.

I understand that selling your home and moving can be a real pain. My goal is to make it hassle-free for you and present your home in the best possible way. When your home is clean, the photos will turn out great and really show off your house and interior design. Let me know if there's any part of your home that's important to you, and I'll make it stand out.

Just wanted to let you know I'll have all my camera gear with me to make your home look its best. Keep pets and children at a safe distance from this equipment. Thanks.

OUTSIDE YOUR House

  • Park your cars in the garage or down the street, away from the front of the home.

  • Take the rolling basketball hoops off the driveway or the front of the house.

  • Go ahead and mow the lawn. Go rake those leaves. Please go and sweep the sidewalks. Shut off the sprinklers. Or you could just get your gardener to clean everything up.

  • Don't water your patio or any concrete or stucco outside the house. If you do, I'll either have to wait for it to dry or use more water to make it look even.

  • Stick all the hoses, lawnmowers, garbage cans, gardening and cleaning stuff, and yard toys in the garage.

  • Make sure your yard furniture is straight. Stick the cushions on the chairs and get rid of that BBQ cover.

  • Make sure all the windows are closed.

  • Remember to keep your pets hidden, even if they're adorable and friendly

  • Clean your pool and get rid of the cleaning equipment so it's not in sight. Why not have your pool guy take care of it?

INSIDE YOUR HOME

  • Make sure every room in the house is clean.

  • Make sure all the lights are on to check if they're working. Change any bulbs that are burned out or dim.

  • Open the window blinds and curtains to make it look consistent.

  • Tidy up the place. If you've got any spare packing boxes, just stash them in the garage or hide 'em in the closets.

  • Make sure to hide your pets, even if they're cute and nice. Don't forget to hide the dog crates and litter boxes.

ROOM-SPECIFIC TIPS

Living Room, Family Room, and Dining Room

  • Straighten the sofa cushions so they look nice. Fold the blankets. Make sure the remotes are out of sight.

  • If you've got a spacious dining room, stick the leaf in the table and set up the chairs.

  • If your dining room is small, remove the table leaves and arrange the chairs accordingly.

Kitchen

  • Please clean the counters and cabinets. Put away all the kitchen stuff like utensils, cookware, paper towels, sponges, soap dispensers, and whatnot. Don't neglect the counter space..

  • Clean the outside of the fridge, stove, and dishwasher.

  • Make sure the sink is empty and clean.

Bathrooms

  • Remember to put the toilet lids down. Make sure the plungers, brushes, and trash cans are out of sight.

  • Put away the soap dispensers, soap dishes, shower products, and reading materials.

  • Stick to showing the pretty towels and linens.

Bedrooms

  • Beds need making, and rooms need cleaning.

  • If you got any fancy jewelry boxes, watch boxes, or other pricey stuff, hide 'em.

  • Stick your clothes, shoes, and other stuff in the closets or under the bed (where no one can see them).
